The project
gives considerable emphasis to training and exchanges of
scientists, which is generally arranged in accordance with
on-going studies in a particular group, in relation to the
applicability of a particular technique. They may be organised as
training visits (eg. for a postgraduate to spend 1 or 2 weeks at
one of the training centres, or for technical specialists to spend
time at the institution where staff are to be trained) or they may
be organised as short courses dealing simultaneously with
epidemiological and technical aspects for a number of
postgraduates. In all cases, the specimens used in the training
will have been collected as part of the on-going field studies,
and field training is carried out through participation in field
studies, survey work and control trials.
